I am one of the few very lucky people who, after 25+ years, are still passionate about their profession… as most of my clients can attest!
From the earliest I can remember, I always knew I was going to be a vet. My parents' garage was a zoo filled with little critters of every kind!
I tried to save a wingless bee and adopted a 4-legged beetle that a neighbour had mangled. Fattened a limp field mouse before the winter: in a pail, because my mom was afraid of it! Gave CPR to a friend's dying goldfish: and saved it!
I befriended every dog I happened to pass on the walk to school, even the mean ones, eventually! My mom never knew that, and unless she reads this, still doesn't!
I love everything about being a vet: from seeing and interacting with people and pets (and puppies!) to teaching owners about their animals so they can live healthier, longer lives together, and even, sadly, helping owners deal with their pets' illnesses, death and grieving…
Witnessing and being a part of that intangible human-animal bond, every day, is what I think has kept my fire going all these years… along with the rush of surgery, the satisfaction of good dentistry, the fascinating medicine, the revelation of radiology, and all those other things that being a veterinarian entails… of course! Oh! and a veterinary hospital that keeps me soaring!
Good thing I have three human children and 4 four-legged ones — 2 cats and 2 dogs — and a wonderful husband to keep me grounded…
Dr. Laplante obtained her doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Montreal in 2001. She joined our team in 2016. Throughout her studies, she completed multiple placements with birds and exotic pets — her primary passion — including birds of prey. In addition to exotic pets, she is an avid traveller and humanitarian. Dr. Laplante has also worked for Veterinarians Without Borders in sterilization and vaccination clinics in Guatemala.
From a very young age, I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to animals. Growing up in Costa Rica, I was the little boy who shared his lunch — lovingly prepared by my mother — with the stray dogs I met on my way to school. Fascinated by all animals, and especially by the loyalty of dogs and the independent spirit of cats, I was already dreaming of helping them and building lasting bonds with them.
My childhood dream became a reality when I began my veterinary studies in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am passionate about continuing education and development, which I pursue with enthusiasm at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the Université de Montréal, as well as through other recognized institutions in Canada.
In my practice, I place great importance on listening to clients, ensuring that pet owners feel understood and supported throughout the entire care process.
With a strong interest in several areas of veterinary medicine, my professional interests include feline medicine, dental care, preventive medicine, geriatrics and dermatology.
On a personal level, I share my life with my wife — whom I met during our university years — our 11-year-old son, and our dog Luna, an adorable poodle mix. Outside of the hospital, I enjoy spending time with my family in Québec's beautiful natural spaces, travelling, and collaborating with a specialized wildlife sanctuary in Costa Rica to contribute to the health and conservation of jaguars.

I was born in France and, as far back as I can remember, I have always had a particular fascination with animals. As a child, I would take in dogs, cats, mice, snakes, birds, fish, tadpoles, frogs, rabbits, and even insects, spending my days taking care of them. Becoming a veterinarian allowed me not only to live my passion on a daily basis by caring for animals, but also to help people and feel useful, while realizing my childhood dream.
I deeply love medicine. I studied at an exceptional school in France, where I had the opportunity to complete my basic course with flying colours. I also passed several competitive exams, followed a two-year medical internship, and a three-year clinical course in internal medicine. These experiences allowed me to acquire solid knowledge, particularly in medical imaging and internal medicine. Never tired of discovering and learning, I am passionate about the challenges that my job presents me every day. For me, being a veterinarian is much more than just a job — it is a true calling.
Dr. Peter Gomberg is a valued member of our team, bringing a lifelong passion for animal care to work every single day. His dream of becoming a veterinarian began in childhood, leading to his graduation in 1991. He later owned and operated his own veterinary hospital in Chambly until 2013, bringing decades of invaluable leadership and medical expertise to our practice.
What Peter loves most about veterinary medicine is the rewarding contact with both the animals and their owners. He thrives on the variety of the profession and truly enjoys tackling the unique challenges of difficult medical cases.
Outside the hospital, Peter is an avid outdoorsman and an enthusiastic bird watcher. He brings his love for nature into his daily routine, frequently commuting to work on his bicycle. His genuine enthusiasm for his profession and his active lifestyle make him a wonderful asset to our “HVD family”.
Graduated in 2000 from the Sherbrooke College Animal Health Technician program. During her studies, Mara did an internship in our hospital and joined our staff soon after her graduation. She has a keen interest in animal nutrition.
Graduated in 2006 from the Lionel-Groulx College Animal Health Technician program. During her studies, Geneviève worked at Duvernay Veterinary Hospital inc. as a technician aid, and joined our certified technical staff soon after her graduation. She has an interest in everything that involves computer and web technology, as well as surgery.
Graduated in 2008 from the Lionel-Groulx College Animal Health Technician program and obtained her National Certification in Animal Health Care the same year. Jo-Anna joined our team in 2009. She has a marked interest in dentistry and surgery.
From a very young age, I've always loved animals. I discovered this passion while visiting zoos and small farms, since I did not have any animals at home. The healthcare field is also something that particularly appeals to me, because I feel a sense of accomplishment when patients and clients leave the hospital with solutions to help them feel better and answers to their questions.
My family consists of three four-legged boys: Mr. Rose (turtle), Speedy (domestic cat), and Winky (Sphynx cat).

I have been a veterinary technician since 2019. I put my expertise and my passion at the service of the well-being of animals and their owners. I'm energetic and I enjoy being involved in just about everything that happens in the hospital: from surgery to general health and customer service. I always pay particular attention to ensuring the job is well done. I also put a lot of effort into being as gentle as can be so that my patients feel reassured. I always stay on the lookout for the best practices in animal health and make it a point of honour to share my knowledge with all our clients.
For as long as I can remember, I have dreamed of becoming a veterinarian. I grew up surrounded by a whole array of animals — including retired racing greyhounds, cats, and budgies — which sparked in me a deep desire to care for them and look after their well-being. When I began my university studies, I developed a strong interest in bovine medicine, drawn to the surgery and obstetrics at its heart. After completing my final year of veterinary medicine, which will allow me to further my knowledge, I hope to work with both small and large animals.
My first childhood dream was to become a veterinarian. I have always had a deep affection for animals and a great curiosity about the living world. From a very young age, I’ve given as much importance to the snails in my yard as to my family cat.
I studied social work at CEGEP for four years. Although that experience helped me develop strong interpersonal qualities, I always knew my true calling was to work with animals. So I chose to change direction and pursue an AEP in animal care, which I completed successfully in 2023.
This training confirmed what I had felt for a long time: the role of animal health technician aide is the one in which I want to grow. I love contributing to animals’ well-being while offering quality support to their owners and to the team I work with.
I hope people will remember me for my energy, my smile, my kindness and, of course, my sincere love for animals. Every animal deserves to be treated with patience, respect and compassion, and it’s with this philosophy that I want to practise my profession every day.
For as long as I can remember, I've had a deep affection for animals, and their well-being has always held an important place in my life. My interest in the animal field grew stronger when I found a canary in the middle of the street. Having no experience with birds at the time, I set out to learn as much as I could to give it the best possible second chance. Unsure of my career path, that's how I began to take a serious interest in the animal field and to consider working in it.
Since my early childhood, the need to help people has been a part of me. Fascinated by the animal and medical fields, I was able to combine both my passions and interests in this job.
Having worked for several years as a therapist in physical rehabilitation (for human beings!!), I transposed my knowledge and skills towards beings of the animal kingdom.
My goal during your visit: to ensure that each person who walks through our doors feels understood, supported and cared for when it comes to the well-being of their pet.
Mom of two boys who saved a pregnant cat with an uncertain future, we gave birth to and welcomed the 8th wonder of the world… Leo, the cat! Treating every person as if they were a member of my family is my philosophy. Looking forward to meeting you!
Jacinthe has been with us since 1990 as a secretary-receptionist. In 2007, she returned to school in Information and Library Technologies in a planned career re-orientation, but has remained with us as a part-time administrative assistant.

Norman Petit brings versatility and dedicated support to our team. The hospital's essential “jack of all trades” since 2013, he keeps daily operations running seamlessly — handling property maintenance, security, systems and repairs. As co-owner, his commitment to the business is both professional and personal.
Son of Dre Nathalie Tremblay, Brian designs and builds the hospital’s website, keeping it clear, current and easy to navigate for our clients. Outside of work, he shares his home with two tortoiseshell cats.
Our hospital's newest mascot! Rescued from euthanasia at 3½ months, and after 2 surgeries and one month of recovery, she is now all better! Shy and quiet (for now), she is winning everyone's heart, especially Savannah's, whom she views as her big sister.

I arrived at Duvernay Veterinary Hospital for treatment and I liked the atmosphere so much that I decided to stay! My humans here helped me stabilize my diabetes and, in exchange, I agreed to become the hospital's official mascot.
Now, don't expect me to wait at the door to greet you: I prefer a more “executive” approach. I spend my days supervising staff remotely and perfecting the art of napping in the quieter areas of the hospital. I'm not much of a socialite, but I'm very happy to have made this hospital my forever home.
Meet Savannah — our well-loved and loving mascot! An “old soul” since birth, with an Olympian calm that charms even the coldest heart! No one can resist her!
